Seber Medical and the wound monitoring application SeeWound has been jointly developed by researchers at Linköping University and active doctors, nurses and assistant nurses from Linköping University Hospital. Over the past 20 years, the joint research group has evaluated how objective methods for wound analysis and wound monitoring could improve the clinical documentation and decision-making within wound treatments. The ultimate goal has always been to develop a clinically useful analysis and monitoring tool to support medical professionals (regional as well as municipal) treating patients with hard-to-heal wounds on a daily basis. Wound treatments are estimated to account for 2 - 4% of Sweden's total expenditure on healthcare. These significant levels of investment highlight the breadth of the category's resource needs as well as the suffering that hard-to-heal wounds entail for patients and their relatives. It also emphasizing the importance of a monitoring device such as SeeWound.
